The municipal theater of Balaguer hosted on Sunday evening the concert of the finalists of the 7th edition of the International Song Singing Contest Germans Pla Ciutat de Balaguer.
The competition, one of the most important in Catalonia, was attended by 20 singers from Spain and Italy who showed a high level of performance in all their performances.
The contest was held throughout the weekend in various stages and Sunday evening, the finalists’ concert, put an end to it.
The singers competed for the performance of a zarzuela or opera area, an oratory, a lied, and this year, as a new feature, they also had to sing a duet with the Pla Brothers. This award, named after Manel Pla, seeks to foster the knowledge of the work of these Baliuer-born composers.
The great winner of this year was the Mallorcan Marga Cloquet, who won the first prize of the competition, the Scholarship of Studies at the Opera of Sabadell and also won the prize of the public.
The second prize went to Josep Ramon Olivé from Barcelona. Tànit Bono was recognized as the best lied performer, allowing her to perform at the Victoria dels Àngels lied festival in Barcelona. For the best performance of the work by the Pla Brothers, the prize was for Marta Casals.
The prize of the Bada-Pas Initiative Association was shared by Josep Ramon Olivé and Tànit Bono and will allow the singers to perform in the “Julio de Música y Poesia” cycle.
