The capital of La Noguera this weekend is hosting the seventh edition of the Germans Pla Ciutat de Balaguer International Song Singing Contest, one of the most important lyric singing competitions in Catalonia.
The contest will begin on Friday, December 6 with rehearsals and will end on Sunday at 19:00 with a concert of the winners open to everyone at the Municipal Theater.
This year the contest incorporates an important new feature and participants will have to play a piece by the Pla Brothers.
Notable among the members of the jury are Mireia Pintó, a teacher at the Esmuc; the soprano Enriqueta Tarrés; the Founder and President of the Friends of the Opera Association of Sabadell, Mirna Lacambra; the cultural entertainer and musicographer, Manuel Capdevila; and the president of the Art Group 4, Montserrat Cots.
