With an almost full Balaguer Municipal Theatre, the Winners’ Concert of the 11th International Lyrical Singing Competition ‘Germans Pla–Ciutat de Balaguer’ was held, which included the participation of the winners of the last edition of the competition held in 2023. The musical formation LleidArt Ensemble, a group of young musicians who have shared studies and musical experiences at the Escola Superior de Música de Catalunya, ESMUC, and who later expanded their studies in various higher schools and conservatories, accompanied the singers under the direction of Josep Miquel Mindàn. In addition, they performed the ‘Overture to La Clemenza di Tito. by W.A. Mozart
The Catalan soprano Violeta Alarcón, the Galician soprano Iria Goti, the Valencian tenor Álvaro Diana, and the Madrid soprano Laura Molina, were able to interpret, in an extraordinary way, several opera arias from different periods.
Barcelona soprano Violeta Alarcón, joint winner of last year’s first prize, sang Ave Maria from Otello by G. Verdi and Allons il le faut…Adieu notre petite table from Manon by J. Messenet.
The Galician soprano Iria Goti, joint winner of last year’s first prize, sang Deh vieni, no tardar from Le nozze di Figaro by W.A. Mozart and Quando me’n vo from La Boheme by G. Puccini.
The Valencian tenor Álvaro Diana, winner of the third prize, performed Quanto ê’ bella from L’elisir d’amore by G. Donizetti and Questa o’queIIa from Rigoletto by G. Verdi.
Madrid soprano Laura Molina, winner of the audience award, performed for us Se pietà di me non senti by Giulio Cesare by G. Ph. Händel and O zittre nicht from Die Zauberflôte by W.A. Mozart.
There were also duets, with Iria Goti and Violeta Alarcón performing “Sull’Aria from Le nozze di Figaro by W.A. Mozart”, a duet by Iria Goti and Alvaro Diana with “Una parola o Adina de L’elisir d’Amore de G. Donizetti”, a duet by Álvaro Diana and Violeta Alarcón with “Parigi o Cara de La traviata de G. Verdi” and finally all the singers Álvaro Diana (Alfredo), Iria Goti (Violeta Travoi), Violeta Alarcont (Violeta La Vitael Tripudio), Laura Molina (Flora) performed Brindis de La Traviata by G. Verdi.
This year, as the main theme of the concert, we had the cultural and musical facilitator Maria Voronkova who introduced us to each piece in a brilliant way. From the Cultural Association Grup d’Art4 of Balaguer, organizer of the concert, we would like to congratulate everyone who participated for their great professionalism and also the audience and sponsors for supporting this event, unique in the Terres de Lleida.
